Tuesday in Middlesbrough, England, was again sunny and beautiful. The uncommonly great weather was a blessing as Day 2 of the Holiday Clubs and Camp of Champions took place.
Students in England get a two-week Easter Break, and they are currently in the second of those weeks. Additionally, Monday was a “bank holiday” for a long weekend. Despite this extended time off for English families, our team has been very pleased with the number of participants who have been attending our clubs and camps. It was so encouraging to see some of our sites double in size!
Day 2’s theme at each site was signified by the division symbol, to teach children that “Sin Separates Us.” Sin creates a divide between God and us, and we all suffer from sinfulness (Romans 3:23). This is bad news. However, the Gospel is “good news that follows bad news,” so tomorrow will begin the turnaround.
After another day of ministry, all groups again attended worship. There was a time of sharing wins from the week so far, as well as a moment for students to voluntarily share how the blood of Christ had changed their lives. Logan then taught from Psalm 90:10-12, where Moses requested that God “teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”
These next few months are a launching pad for our graduating seniors. The challenge for them is to “Live For Eternity,” and pouring themselves into the work of missions this week can help them recalibrate their personal desires to things above, establishing a deeper faith as they move into the next stage of their lives.
Pray for our students as they wrestle with this reality.
Pray also for tomorrow’s clubs and camps. It is a BIG day as the truth of the Cross is introduced. Please pray for our students as they bring this very important message and for lives to be eternally changed!
