Who is Jesus?

Who Is Jesus?

Maybe you’ve asked this question before and you’re still not sure of the answer. There are many words the Bible uses to describe Jesus: the Messiah, King of Kings, Helper, Advocate, Deliverer, Good Shepherd, and that’s just a few. Perhaps the most important thing to understand about Jesus is His unconditional love. A verse in the Bible that many people are familiar with is John 3:16 – For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.

This love is the cornerstone of who He is and the motivation for what He did to save each of us from a life separated from God.

Some Good News For You!

If you want to understand more about God and what it means to have a relationship with Him, see what the Bible says below:

God is perfectly good.

And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good except God alone.” Mark 10:18

God loves you.

“Your eyes saw me when I was formless; all my days were written in your book and planned before a single one of them began.” Psalm 139:16

Every person is flawed by sin.

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23

Our sin prevents life God’s way.

“But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear.” Isaiah 59:2

God still loves us and offers to restore us.

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8

God gave His Son to bear the consequences of our sin.

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” John 3:16

You can have life God’s way by believing in Jesus.

“That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9

How Can You Believe?

Confess

Acknowledge your sin. But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. 1 John 1:9, NLT

Believe

God is able to make you holy through Jesus. And this is his commandment: We must believe in the name of His Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as he commanded us. 1 John 3:23, NLT

Turn

Stop practicing the sin that is separating you from God. Therefore, I will judge each of you, O people of Israel, according to your actions, says the Sovereign Lord. Repent, and turn from your sins. Don’t let them destroy you! Ezekiel 18:30, NLT

Ask

Express to God your desire to be forgiven and made sinless by Him. For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:13, NLT

Trust

God has given you eternal life. And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God’s Son does not have life. 1 John 5:11–12, NLT
