What is Operation Christmas Child?
Operation Christmas Child is a project by Samaritan’s Purse with the mission of sharing the love of Jesus Christ with children worldwide.
Volunteers pack shoeboxes with small gifts—like toys, school supplies, and hygiene items—as a tangible expression of God’s love and the Gospel message.
The purpose is to show children that they are loved by Jesus and not forgotten. Millions of children in over 100 countries receive these boxes through local churches and ministry partners. Each shoebox is an opportunity to share the Good News of Jesus, often accompanied by a gospel booklet, called “The Greatest Gift” in the child’s language.
At its heart, Operation Christmas Child is more than just giving gifts—it’s about pointing children to the hope found in Jesus Christ.

National Collection Week
Johnson Ferry’s Collection Sunday will be November 15. Drop your boxes off at an Atrium Entrance.
Johnson Ferry is a regional drop-off location for National Collection Week, November 16-23. We will meet donors, pray over the shoeboxes, pack them into cartons, and then stack them into a trailer to head to the processing center. You can help by serving during National Collection Week. Check out all the serving opportunities below.
Hand Out Boxes
We will be handing out boxes on Sunday, November 1, and the bookstore will also have a limited stock available. Children will also receive a shoebox from Kid’s Ministry on Sunday Morning.
What do I pack inside the box?
FUN—includes a “wow” item and other quality toys
FULL—packed to the brim with additional school supplies and personal care items
PERSONALIZED—prayed over and contains a note and photo, which are often the child’s favorite items!
Build a Shoebox Online
Shoebox gifts built online go to the ends of the earth to children in some of the hardest-to-reach places—whether deep jungles, city slums, steep mountainsides, or one of more than 1,000 remote Pacific islands. Many of these areas are resistant to the Gospel, for cultural or religious reasons, and are home to some people who have never heard the Name of Jesus Christ.
