Parents, if I had to guess, I would say your students enjoyed their second day of ministry even more than the first!! We had such an impactful day… read more to hear about it!
We kicked off our morning with some yummy breakfast, quiet time, and a morning program. Our student leaders this year are game show hosts “Steve” and “Harvey,” and they give us a lot of laughs each morning 😂. They call students up who have funny stories to spin the “Wheel of Misfortune”! Our contestant had to wear a Bluey t-shirt all day today!
After our laughs and instruction, we headed out to ministry. Many stayed on campus at the Highlands to play sports with kids from the Boca Chica area. I wish you could have seen the ball field! Covered in Johnson Ferry students and Dominican kids— playing, building friendships, and ultimately, sharing the Gospel. I would say every student here has either shared their testimony or the gospel by now. What a joy! Of course, there were other ministry sites all throughout the community. One really amazing God story: a family group had witnessed it for the first time today. They were invited into the home of an older woman. She invited them all the way into her kitchen! She was eager to hear what our students had to share. In fact, she said she had a dream that a group would come and share about Christ with her. And look, God fulfilled that dream! Our students got to pray with her and share Jesus with her. She was a believer already, but was very burdened for her son, who was not a believer. Our student cared for her and prayed with her, and when they were finishing up their prayer, her son came home! Our students got to share the love of Christ with him — and seeds were planted.
Our VBS sites nearly doubled the number of kids, and that made for a fun and engaging time! Your students are really stepping up to lead – you should be so proud!
We ended our night with worship and a Word from Courtney from Luke 5. She reminded us that our greatest need is not friendship or status or good grades or a relationship — it’s the forgiveness Christ offers. It’s a relationship with God!
Our family groups debriefed the day, shared gospel stories, and had fun bonding with each other to end the night. We cannot wait for our third ministry!
