UK 2026 | DAY 1

TRAVEL/DAY 1 (Friday & Saturday)

Mission trip departure days are always a time for excitement and anticipation. When they fall on a Good Friday, it’s a unique mix of emotions, the joy of a new adventure alongside the weight of Jesus’ call to the cross.

Jesus’ ultimate act of love, His crucifixion, was not for any wrong He had done (because He had never done wrong) but as a sacrifice to pay for the sin of all mankind. This is the foundation for why our Johnson Ferry Students go on these mission trips: to share Jesus’ love with those we serve.

With Jesus’ sacrifice in mind on this Good Friday, JF Seniors departed for the United Kingdom!

Thank you to all who specifically prayed for our group to avoid airport security issues. Both flight groups sailed through without any hiccups. It has been a long day and a half of traveling for our high school seniors and leaders, spanning Friday and most of Saturday. The group may be tired, but they have remained in good spirits and are ready for what’s ahead.

Flight group 1 arrived in Middlesbrough about six hours before flight group 2, so they had time to canvass neighborhoods near our ministry sites and conduct Spiritual Interest Surveys around the hotel. It was an eye-opening time for students, who saw firsthand the spectrum of beliefs in the area and how open many people are to having a conversation about faith.

As Holy Saturday winds down, we again look to the cross of Jesus. After His crucifixion, as Friday came to a close, His body was laid in a tomb and sealed with a stone. Saturday was a day of mourning for His followers. BUT… Sunday was coming!

Please continue to pray for us. Sunday will be a special day as we celebrate our Risen Lord in a new place and get further prepared for our week’s mission.
