Special Needs Basketball
Special Needs sports caters to a wide variety of disabilities through modifications made to each sport to accommodate special needs players. Each player is paired with a buddy or staff member who can help them stay on task, learn new skills and have fun!
We are excited to bring Shine Special Needs Basketball back to the spring line up. We are committed to making this a safe environment for your child.

Schedule
March 25 – May 6
- Practices start at 2:30 p.m.
- Games start at 3:00 p.m.
- No Games on April 1 & 8 for Cobb County Spring Break
Games take place on Saturdays in the Activities Center, an indoor climate controlled gym.
Shine Special Needs Basketball REgistration
Shine Special Needs Basketball is a league for ages 8-25 with special needs
Cost
$40 registration includes jersey, shorts, and pictures
Where
Johnson Ferry Activities Center
Two Levels of Play:
- Level 1: For players with more experience and understanding of basketball. This division includes less involvement with Shine Buddies, and referees call basic violations and fouls. Score is kept. Children should be able to rebound the ball and dribble down court (exception: dribbling rules will be adapted for those who require use of a wheelchair).
- Level 2: For players who need more assistance on the court by the use of Shine Buddies. Referees will be present, but the primary goals include keeping children safe and giving all children the opportunity to succeed. Score is not kept
