Memphis Parent Blog

Hey parents!

What a day. I want to thank you for coming to the parent meeting. You heard all the logistics and got to hear my heart about what I believe God is going to do in your students. We are praying for you as you continue to love and lead your students as they prepare to go to Memphis.

The Mission and Vision

In a nutshell, we hope our Memphis trip will do three things in the life of your student. First, we hope it will help them cultivate a heart for the lost. We pray that students will begin to grieve over people who don’t have a personal relationship with Jesus. Second, we hope to lead middle school students to learn to share the gospel with the lost. Our team will be training them on the practical skills of sharing their faith with those who need to hear it. Third, we hope to begin setting the foundation for disciple-making in East Cobb. We want these students to know that everything we are doing in Memphis can happen in East Cobb. This trip is foundational to helping students see that God wants to use them to reach and disciple people for Jesus, where they live, work, and play.

The Logistics

I want to hit the highlights for you as a quick reminder of our discussion yesterday.

  1. All forms and payments were due yesterday! (JF Liability Form, JF Code of Conduct Form, Covid-19 Policy, Street Reach Liability) If you haven’t turned those in, please do so.
  1. Plan to have your student attend all required trainings:
  • Sunday, May 5 | 4:30-6pm
  • Sunday, May 12 | 4:30-6pm
  • Sunday, May 19 | 4:30-6pm
  • Wednesday, May 29 | 4:30-6pm
  1. If your student has any major allergies or medical needs, please communicate with us immediately!

As we get ready to leave in the coming weeks, I want to encourage you to continue to lean into what your student is learning. Maybe this week, you could even ask them, “What is God teaching you as you get ready to go?” and then pray for them. Also, I want you to consider the following question, “How will you fan the flame burning in your student’s heart when they get back after the trip?”. You will have an incredible opportunity to capitalize on a major spiritual moment in your life. Don’t waste it!
