Life Issues

All of us encounter issues with life. While some of these issues naturally occur in the course of the day, many are beyond a normal level of challenge and often difficult to endure. Being educated on these issues is a positive step in processing these challenges.

Stephen Ministry is a confidential, Christian care-giving ministry offering one-on-one care to individuals experiencing a variety of needs and difficulties such as separation or divorce, terminal illness, bereavement, job crisis, loneliness or depression, hospitalization, spiritual crisis, and prodigal children.  Stephen Ministers are trained laypeople who are available for listening and providing support through your time of difficulty.

The Johnson Ferry Counseling Ministry has a variety of support groups available to you.  Drawing strength from others who have previously experienced and conquered specific challenges is a healthy approach to take.  Isolation is the natural, yet harmful reaction to emotional and spiritual pain.  We encourage you to reach out to others and experience Christ's love and compassion through our support groups.

Al-Anon

a group for family and friends of alcoholics and other addicts. Meets every Thursday from 7:30 - 8:30 p.m.

Care Givers  (sponsored by LAF Ministry)

An excellent place to find information, education, friendship and support. A safe place where ideas, struggles and hopes can be shared. Meets 1st Thursdays from 7:00-8:30 pm

The Big D

a 13-week group for teens (12-17) whose parents are separated or divorced. Meets Wednesdays from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. Cost is $15 for workbook. New sessions begin in January and August.

Cancer

a group for patients, caregivers, family and friends who are battling cancer. Meets the 2nd and 4th Mondays from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m.

Depression/Bipolar

a group for those who suffer from depression and bipolar disorder and the people who love them. Meets the 1st and 3rd Thursdays from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m.

Diabetes

a group for Type I or Type II diabetics of all ages and their family members. Meets the 1st Sunday from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. Individual appointments are also available.

 Divorce Care

a 13-week seminar/support group for those who are separated or divorced. Meets Wednesdays from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. Cost for workbook is $15. New sessions begin in January and August.

DivorceCare 4 Kids

a 13-week class for kids ages 5-12 whose parents are separated or divorced. Meets Wednesdays from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. Cost is $15 for workbook. New sessions begin in January and August.

GriefShare

a 13-week seminar/support group for those who have lost a loved one through death. Meets Mondays from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Cost is $15 for workbook. New sessions begin in January, May and August. 

Hearts of Hope

a group for family and friends of those trapped in same-sex attraction. Meets 1st & 3rd Thursdays from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m.

Parents of Prodigals

a group for parents whose children are living self-destructive lifestyles. Meets 2nd & 4th Thursdays from 7:00 -  8:30 p.m. New sessions begin January and August.

Adult Survivors of Child Sexual Abuse

a group for adults who experienced childhood sexual abuse or incest. The group will meet the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m.
