Media Arts

At Johnson Ferry, worship is our number one ministry priority. Our Media Ministry is key in providing our members and guests with a rich, meaningful worship experience.

Ironically, the goal of the staff and volunteers within the Media Ministry is to make their hours upon hours of painstaking labor and meticulous attention to detail as invisible to worshipers as possible. We are grateful for their selfless commitment and hard work.

  • Tech Team

The Tech Team provides setup, support and operation of all audio visual and lighting equipment for worship services, churchwide productions and ministry area events. It is an area of service that is exciting and rewarding.

  • Sound Technician

Sound techs are responsible for setup and teardown of mics and other sound equipment and for insuring that mics are turned on and off at appropriate times and at the correct sound level throughout a service or event. Due to the size and scope of our sound needs, we require training for beginning & advanced level sound techs.

  • Lighting Technician

Lighting techs work at the light console following a script of the service to raise and lower the light levels for different areas at different times. No prior experience is required, we will provide the training needed.

  • Camera Operator

If you have operated a home video camcorder you are on your way to being a camera operator. We will provide some training to learn the specifics of our cameras and how to follow the video director.

  • Video Director

The video director talks via headset to the camera operators to guide their shots and then mixes the shots to produce a video feed that is sent to closed circuit TV, recorded to tape, and used at the 11:30 service for image magnification. Normally, after a time, the more experienced camera operators move into the director role. If there is anyone with prior directing experience, we can work to get them plugged in to the video director role.

  • MediaShout

MediaShout slides are used every Sunday to show the lyrics to songs and sermon notes in the 11:30 service and with increasing frequency to show sermon notes at 8:30 and 10:00. Prior knowledge of MediaShout required but we train on the use of the switcher.

  • Weekday Volunteer

From time to time we have needs for help during the week for things such as a large setup for an event. This is a great place to serve if you have other commitments on Sunday mornings, or don’t feel comfortable with one of the positions listed above.

  • Web Ministry Volunteer

No experience required. We train our volunteers!  We ask for a yearly commitment to be a communications liaison between a specific ministry and the website. Opportunity to serve in this area may include writing text, compiling photographs for web use, maintaining and updating web content.
