Instrumental Groups

At Johnson Ferry, worship is our number one priority, and we have many talented and dedicated individuals who add to the worship experience through instrumental music. Opportunities include a full 50-piece orchestra, a swinging jazz band, or one of our amazing contemporary worship bands. These instrumental groups add power, reflection and intimacy to our corporate and small group worship.

  • Johnson Ferry Orchestra

If you have experience playing an instrument and a desire to use your talent for God, the Johnson Ferry Orchestra has a place for you. These instrumentalists join together in forming what has become a vibrant part of the worship experience at JFBC. Our Orchestra is much more than any community or civic center orchestra; we have been called to the high purpose of leading our congregation in praise and worship of the Almighty God!

Rehearsals for the Johnson Ferry Orchestra are weekly on Wednesdays, 7:00-8:45 p.m. in the Orchestra Rehearsal Room (room 303/305). The group is open to adults and advanced high school students.

The Johnson Ferry Orchestra plays approximately three Sundays a month in the 8:30, 9:50 & 11:15 a.m. services, and for all major productions of the Worship & Arts Ministry, including the Johnson Ferry Christmas Festival, An American Celebration, and the annual Orchestra Pops Concert in the Park.

  • Gospel Jazz Band
  • Gospel Jazz Band plays approximately 7-8 times a year in the 8:30, 9:50 & 11:15 a.m. services, and for the annual Magnolia Ball and Big Band Concert in the Park. It is open to all trumpet, trombone, and saxophone players, adults and advanced high school students. Rehearsals are at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesdays.

  • Youth Orchestra
  • Our Youth Orchestra is a project-oriented group, open to all high school players. Typically, the group will rehearse four consecutive weeks on Sunday evenings, then play during Sunday morning worship in the Fall and Spring, at 8:30, 9:50 & 11:15 a.m in the Sanctuary. They also play for the 8:00 PM Christmas Eve Service.

  • Handbells
  • Our Handbell Ministry includes a five-octave set of Schulmerich handbells and a three-octave set of Malmark handchimes. Several groups rehearse regularly, including the Bells of Johnson Ferry (an adult choir), and the Young Ringers (an older children and middle school group). Openings are filled by interview with the respective directors.
