Sexual Abuse

“Shh!”  “Don’t say that so loud.”  “Keep quiet.”  That’s what survivors of sexual abuse have been hearing for years.  And they have been suffering in silence.  Alone with their pain.  And why?  Because we don’t want them to talk about it.  It makes us all feel vulnerable.

If we don’t talk about it, it will go away.  Right?  It doesn’t happen here, not in this community.  That message is for someone else.  Right?

Wrong.  According to national statistics, 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys are sexually abused before their 18th birthdays.

Maybe you’re reading this because it happened to you.  Maybe you know someone who is a victim.  Your life, or your friend’s life has been radically changed by sexual abuse.  The wounds can be healed, and the pain can be relieved.  We invite you to become a survivor.
